Rigoberto's Mexican Food is a straightforward, no-frills Mexican and breakfast spot tucked into a strip mall near the Walmart on South Nogales Highway in Green Valley. The setting doesn’t pretend to be fancy—think functional seating with a relaxed, home-style vibe that feels a bit like Grandma’s kitchen. The interior isn’t flashy, but it’s clean and casual, which suits locals stopping by for a solid meal without fuss.

This is a place best suited for those who appreciate generous portions of made-to-order Mexican classics, especially during breakfast and early evening meals. The menu leans heavily into hearty favorites like carne asada fries, carnitas, and a variety of burritos including chorizo and steak ranchero options. There’s a practical self-service salsa bar offering a range of salsas and pico de gallo that lets guests customize their plates. The carne asada burrito and chorizo breakfast burrito, known for their bold flavors and sizeable portions, consistently draw in repeat customers.

Because the spot is localized amid everyday traffic—including workers, families, and locals—it’s a dependable lunch or early dinner pit stop. It can get busier by early evening, so midday visits might be more relaxed. Folks often swing by for takeout as much as dine-in, with quick, friendly service keeping lines moving efficiently even when it’s crowded.

Vegans and vegetarians won’t feel left out here, thanks to options like a vegetable burrito that are thoughtfully assembled with rice, beans, fresh salad, and guacamole. Refreshing drinks like hibiscus tea, horchata, and tamarind add a homely touch to the experience.

In summary, Rigoberto’s feels like a community meal spot where the emphasis is on familiar, comforting Mexican food served efficiently and in hearty portions. It’s well-suited for anyone craving authentic, unfussy breakfasts or a filling dinner after a day running errands or working nearby.

Great Mexican Food! We visited on a Thursday evening at about 6:00 pm. This restaurant is located in a strip mall and faces S. Nogales Hwy near the Walmart. A little tricky to find the first time, but once you go you'll have no difficulty finding it on your next visits which you will do. As you enter the front door you see the counter where you order food, either for take-out or dine-in. Over the counter is a menu board with a huge selection. Note: the picture of this menu board on the internet is a little old and prices are a little higher. To the left is a soda dispenser and a help yourself salsa bar with Pico de Gallo, a green salsa - tasty, not spicy hot, a red salsa that I found to be a little spicier than I enjoy and a bowl of lime wedges. Small containers with lids are at the bar for your convenience. Dining tables are to the right. This is a very busy place at dinner time with some dine-in eaters and a heavy take-out business. We stepped to the side to study the menu board as regulars went right to the counter and ordered their meals. My wife ordered one chicken taco and two carne asada tacos. Just tacos, no beans or other sides. I ordered the Super Nachos and asked for the chips to be in a separate container instead of under all the toppings. Orders are filled very quickly, five minutes or less. The person at the counter calls out the order and you go to the counter and get it. All orders are served in foam take-out containers. Take-outs are in a plastic grocery sack, dine-in is on a tray. Plasticware and napkins are at the counter. These tacos are legit! The chicken taco had a plentiful amount of lightly seasoned juicy chicken with tomatoes, lettuce and cheese in a crispy fried corn tortilla. The carne asada tacos were in soft corn tortillas loaded with a super flavorful cubed beef, topped with Pico de Gallo and guacamole. These are large, full size tacos and we brought one home. Now for the Super Nachos. One typical large container was filled with fresh fried tortilla chips. The other large container was a Mexican buffet! Sour cream, Pico de Gallo, refried beans, guacamole, lettuce, cheese and a large portion of their tasty carne asada. I really enjoyed loading chips with a variety of the toppings and mixing up the flavors. I brought home enough for another days lunch. As we sat close to the counter, we heard numerous orders for carne asada fries which I think are the same toppings as the nachos, but over fries. I think I need to get these next time. Based on the volume of business they did on a Thursday night, I would say that indeed, this is THE Mexican food place in Green Valley. Don't go for the atmosphere, go and enjoy the food. Update 3-20-23 The Carne Asada Fries ($12.90) have been on my mind since my last visit and I had to try them. My wife ordered two of her favorite Carne Asada Tacos. Once again, orders are ready for pickup at the counter within minutes. Piping hot with fresh toppings. These Carne Asada Fries are it! Loads, and I mean loads of carne asada, sour cream and guacamole atop a bed of fresh fried fries, topped with melted shredded cheese. I had enough left over for another lunch. Go there and enjoy!

I had the 5 rolled tacos which came topped with cheese and guacamole. I added pico de gallo from their self service salsa bar (3 choices). The tacos were tasty, service was fast and friendly.

Got the Chorizo breakfast burrito and the asada quesadilla. Fast service, slightly dingy look inside but nothing gross. The food was phenomenal, the chorizo had the perfect amount of spice and the asada was very juicy and flavorful. Prices are higher than expected but the portions are very large. 10/10 would recommend. Pictured is the chorizo burrito, atleast a pound of food.

Fantastic place for delicious homestyle Mexican food made fresh to order. Relaxed grandma’s kitchen atmosphere with decent amount of seating. Loved the chicken chimichanga plate especially as the portion is enough for two. Carne asada fries also tasty and again generously portioned. Highly recommend for comforting Mexican food in the area.

Folk are always walking in, waiting, and placing orders. It goes by quickly. My vegan burrito was a good size, a mix of hot rice, beans and cool salad, salsa, and guacamole wrapped. The hibiscus tea was excellent. They let me taste a little of horchata and the tamarind drink before choosing. Smaller place, I left as it was getting busier. Diverse range of locals, families, workers, all ages. They were closing at 2 pm that Sunday. Remember to help yourself to the salsas for your order. Definitely authentic Mexican food. Enjoy!

I had a craving for chile rellenos but was in a hurry to finish holiday errands so I didn’t want to go to a big restaurant and wait for a takeout, so I thought I’d try Rigoberto’s which is basically a fast-food restaurant though there is seating for those who want to stay to eat. The “sides” menu had an offering of two chile rellenos, which was all I wanted and it was only $10 and change after taxes. What a great surprise when I opened it at home! Not only were there two delicious chile rellenos, there was a generous serving of sour cream, guacamole, and an awesome pico de gallo. Plus there were two large tortillas for dipping into the three condiments with plenty left for the chile rellenos. My “snack” was a whole meal and definitely as good as any big restaurant I’ve been to. Staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful. I’ll definitely be a regular at this hidden little gem in Green Valley.
